As important as mission and vision and values are, they all must be undergirded by solid biblical beliefs. God has given us His Word as a love letter to us, to help us understand His truth, and to know what makes the world and life work correctly. The Bible also helps us understand how we can really know God and have meaning and purpose in our lives. At Victory Church, all matters of life, faith and practice are ultimately judged and submitted to the test of what God has said in His Word, which we believe to be fully inspired by Him.
THE BIBLE
We believe the Bible, and only the Bible, is God's written Word, inerrant in its original writings. It is inspired, infallible, accurate, authoritative, trustworthy, and our guide and final authority for all doctrine and living life.
GOD
We believe in one eternal God, creator of all things, who eternally exists in three co-equal and co-eternal persons - The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is infinitely perfect, present everywhere, all-wise and all-knowing, totally loving and completely holy.
MAN
We believe man is made in the image of God, and is the supreme object of God's creation. God loves people. Respect, dignity and love for people and life is essential. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is indelibly marred by disobedience towards God called sin. Sin separates man from God's love, power and purpose.
JESUS CHRIST
We believe Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the true and only answer to the problem of man's sin. He came from heaven as fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, worked miracles, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins by dying on the cross and shedding His blood. He arose from the dead, physically and literally, three days later to demonstrate His victory over sin and death, over satan and his demons, and over all the evil results of man's fall into sin. He ascended into heaven where He now sits at the right hand of God the Father.
SALVATION
We believe salvation is a gift from God to man, based on the finished work of Christ on the cross. Man can never get to heaven, live a victorious life over sin, or find God's creative purpose for his life by his own self-improvement or good works. It is also not enough to just know Christ is the answer. We each must personally repent of our sins, receive Christ into our hearts by faith as our Savior and Lord, and experience the miracle of the new birth through God's wonderful grace. God literally and actually comes into our hearts and lives. Salvation is a supernatural experience!
BAPTISM IN WATER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that once we have received Christ, in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intended for us, we need to be baptized in water and baptized in, or filled with, the power of the Holy Spirit. Baptism in water by immersion is dying to our old life of sin and being raised to a new life in Christ. Baptism in the Holy Spirit opens up the world of God's power and spiritual gifts to empower and strengthen us to successfully live the Christian life. This includes the personal gift of speaking in tongues, allowing us to pray in a heavenly language.
RIGHTEOUS AND VICTORIOUS LIVING
We believe that God wants to transform our lives, healing us spiritually and physically, building our character, helping us live righteous, victorious, successful and prosperous lives to demonstrate the goodness of God and to enable us to have the resources to help others.
THE CHURCH
We believe God has called each of us to join together in God's family, the church, in our own local area. Every believer needs to be part of a local church family, much as it would be difficult to grow up and survive without a family in the natural world. It is to be a place of nurture, growth, healing, protection, learning, service and encouragement.
SACRAMENTS
Sacraments are physical touchpoints commanded by God in the Bible that become means of grace and avenues of God touching our lives - they include water baptism, communion, laying on of hands, and anointing with oil. The relationship of man and woman in marriage is also a powerful avenue of God working in our lives.
CHRISTIAN SERVICE
We believe every Christian has gifts and talents given by God that we are responsible to use for service in His Kingdom - both in the church, and to bless our world with God's love and salvation. Every believer has a repsonsibility to serve God, love others, and to share the Gospel.
THE RESURRECTION
We believe in the resurrection of the dead - the saved to spend eternity with the Lord in His glorious Kingdom; the lost to damnation and separation from God forever.
HEAVEN AND HELL
We believe that our eternal destination is either Heaven or Hell, determined by how we respond to the Lord Jesus Christ and His offer to us of salvation through His work on the cross.
CHRIST'S RETURN
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is physically and visibly returning to earth from heaven in power and great glory, just as He promised. We cannot know the exact time, but the Bible gives us signs of His coming, and commands us to be ready!
